The Stuyvesants

Awesome instrumental hip-hop out of Brooklyn from The Stuyvesants. You can pick up their album “Brooklyn’s Finest” for free from their website. I’m positive this is going into heavy rotation this summer.

BEAT THE DEVIL’S TATTOO | BRMC

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

The latest album from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Beat the Devil’s Tattoo, came out last Tuesday which coincidentally was when they played at Slim’s here in San Francisco. I’m glad I finally got to see this band live, and I’ve been listening to this new album a ton since picking it up at the show.

SPOON + SQUAREPUSHER

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

A couple albums I’ve been listening to a ton over the past several weeks; I picked them up at my previous trip to Amoeba Records. The album from Spoon is their latest, Transference, which I’ve been enjoying immensely. Budakhan Mindphone by Squarepusher came out in 1999, but I picked it up or two reasons, it’s one of the albums by him I don’t have, and the second being the song Iambic 5 Poetry is how I was introduced to Squarepusher, so it has some nostalgia attached to it. I’ve included the song below as I think it’s a perfect example of how a song can create atmosphere, and I find it’s a great song to listen to while I’m working.
